Up to 150 veterans of World War II has been driven by volunteer London Black Cab drivers back to the beaches Normandy in June 2017 on behalf of the Taxi Charity. 

We took this oportunity to have a was a fascinating conversation with Mr Frank Prendergast. 

We have spoken about the current situation regarding Brexit and also about Normandy.

Frank Pendergast, from Eltham, London, was one of the few survivors of the mass drop on Pegasus Bridge on June 6, 1944.

he has been given the honorary title of Freeman of Normandy.

There were 600 in their battalion but 400 of them were killed in the first week.

''The bridge had to be taken otherwise D-Day couldn't happen. We had to hold it. We had to keep the tanks off the bridge."

The capture of Pegasus Bridge on the Caen Canal near Ouistreham in France from the Germans was one of the most important objectives in preparation for the D-Day landings.
