Mr Michael Russell MA MBA FCILT MCGI graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1978. He has spent the majority of his 35-year career serving with British Airborne Forces when at Regimental Duty. He has served in Northern Ireland, Central Africa, Kosovo, and Iraq. He initiated his involvement as a Trustee of the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Museum and has a keen interest in military history. He was the Commander, Aldershot Garrison, traditionally known as the ''Home of the British Army''.
Col Michael Russel continues working as the Trustee of the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Museum, also former Commander of Mod's Defence Logistics School. In of the Virtuti Militari, Commander of the Cross and Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta, holder of the Polish Cross of Valour awarded the Gold Cross of Merit with Swords, holder of an Honorary Commander of the British Empire award, also bestowed by the Dutch Royal Family the Bronze Lion.
